The Healthiest Way to make Coffee

Every coffee lover knows what a good brew tastes like. However, since there is a lot that goes into a cup of coffee, it is important to know how to do it right – in a way that benefits your health.

A good brew comes with a lot of tasty goodness but there is more to that. There is an ample of beneficial substances that come with coffee; examples of such include diterpene, caffeine and chlorogenic acid. Owing to these constituents, finding the healthiest way to prepare coffee will be determined by what you want. Knowing what you want is one thing and preparing brew that gives you the desired result is another. For without the knowledge and/or coffee making techniques, even the best rated coffee makers will become nuisance.

Two major nourishing constituents of any good brew are diterpene and chlorogenic acid, and the amount [of each] that is present in the brew can be determined by the method of preparation. By the way; chlorogenic acids have tremendous antioxidant properties while diterpene is known for its anti-cancer ability. The cold brew method contains more diterpene while instant brew reserves more chlorogenic acids.

Methods of Preparing Coffee

Briefly, we shall now discuss three (3) different ways of preparing coffee and then you may decide the one that’s best for you.

  • French Press: The French press is actualized by pouring hot water over the coffee ground in a French presser pitcher. This method is particularly good for grounds that fall in between fine and coarse. With this kind of brewing method much diterpene is obtained.
  • Cold Brew: This is simply done by submerging coffee grounds in cold water. In this, so much diterpene is obtained. The method is known to give right about the tastiest brew of them all.
  • Instant Brew: Here, coffee beans – roasted one of course – have been made available in powdered form. This means the coffee can be prepared by mixing the powdered ground in a cup of hot water. This method does not deliver the diterpene and does not really give the natural aroma and taste of the coffee beans. However, the taste may be missing but it is yet perceived to be the healthiest method of preparing coffee; this is because it does not predispose you to the health risk realizable from cholesterol.

No matter the method you may settle for; it is always good to avoid adding sugar and cream to your coffee. Instead consider adding honey, coconut milk, peppermint oil or some other spices.
